LASD Firearm Add-On and Modification

Confirm Your Agency’s Modification Rules Before Booking

LASD

LASD limits firearm modifications to two per permit term, does not allow modifications within 90 days of expiration, and requires qualification documents dated within 30 days of the modification request. Check LASD’s modification rules.

Pasadena

Routine firearm additions are generally deferred until renewal. Limited exceptions require agency approval. Check Pasadena’s exceptions.

Other agencies set their own procedures. Confirm eligibility before purchasing a separate qualification appointment. During standard Medic Up initial or renewal training, qualification with up to three eligible firearms is included; the $95 service applies to a separate modification appointment.

Guidance reviewed October 12, 2026. Follow current instructions from your issuing agency.

Current permit holders who need to qualify a new or replacement firearm can use Medic Up’s dedicated firearm add-on / modification qualification on select weekends in Azusa. The course is $95 and is designed as a focused qualification service rather than requiring a student to repeat a full CCW course.

Law-Enforcement and First-Responder Instruction

Medic Up is first-responder owned. Our instructional cadre includes active and retired law-enforcement personnel and experienced first responders who emphasize safe gun handling, practical decision-making and responsible concealed carry.

Practical Holster Training

Students do more than shoot a qualification course. Initial training includes safe presentation from a quality concealed-carry holster and practical defensive-handgun fundamentals appropriate to the course.

Firearms and Medical Preparedness

CCW students also receive hands-on bleeding-control instruction. Students practice recognizing life-threatening bleeding, applying direct pressure, wound packing and tourniquet application.

What to Bring

Registered students should review their course instructions carefully. Typical range equipment includes government-issued identification, each firearm being qualified, a safe compatible holster, magazines, required ammunition, eye and ear protection, closed-toe shoes, water, food, sunscreen and weather-appropriate clothing.
