Home Defense Shotgun and Pistol Course
This full day training course is designed for both new and experienced shooters who want to build real world defensive skills with the two most common home defense firearms, the handgun and the shotgun. The program focuses on safe gun handling, efficient weapon manipulation, accurate shooting, and sound decision making under stress.

Course Overview
The day begins with an intensive fundamentals block covering both pistols and shotguns. Students will work on:
• Sight alignment and target focus
• Trigger control for accuracy and recoil management
• Proper grip for handgun control
• Stable and mobile shooting stances
• Safe and efficient draw from concealment
• Shotgun loading, unloading, and manipulation
• Timed repetitions to build speed and consistency
Instruction is led by former law enforcement Weapons Training Unit instructors with extensive operational and teaching experience.
Training Progression
As the day progresses, students will move into practical drills and realistic defensive scenarios, including:
• Timed speed drills from ready positions using a shot timer
• Accuracy under time pressure with both handgun and shotgun
• Controlled round counts designed to maximize training value
• End of day elevated heart rate drill to test performance under physical stress
Training Philosophy
This course is structured to accommodate different skill levels. Instructors adjust pacing and round counts to ensure each student receives effective coaching and meaningful repetitions. The goal is to build confidence, competence, and safe gun handling habits that translate to real world defensive use.

• Approximately 400 rounds of brass ammunition

• Approximately 100 rounds of number 8 birdshot
